Welcome to brush up on your English, meet old and new fellow students and enjoy everyday college life for a week in August 2026!
The course is aimed at those who have completed West Finland College's English for 50+ course, but it is open to everyone who wants to refresh their language skills.
The course focuses on speaking and pronunciation and builds vocabulary. The themes relate to travelling and to the cultures of different countries.

CONTINUING THE LANGUAGE COURSE AT WEST FINLAND COLLEGE
Teaching takes place from Monday to Friday, a total of 25 x 45 min, and the lessons are held between 9 and 14.
The course teacher is Kristian Hannikainen. If you have any wishes regarding the content of the course, you can send a message about them directly to the teacher at kristian.hannikainen@lsopisto.fi.
MEALS
Breakfast is served in the college dining hall between 8-9 and lunch between 12.15–13.15.
PRICE
Price: 230 € / participant. In addition to the teaching, the price includes breakfast and lunch on all study days.
ACCOMMODATION
It is possible to stay at the college if there are enough rooms available. See more detailed information about accommodation here, and tell us your accommodation wishes when you register.

Cancellation terms:
A short course can be cancelled free of charge no later than 14 days before the course begins. For a cancellation made after that, we charge 50 % of the course fee. For cancellations made less than 2 days before the course begins, we charge the full course fee. Please note that failing to pay for the course or failing to turn up is not a cancellation.
Remember to give your bank account details for the refund.
West Finland College has the right to cancel a planned course if not enough participants register for it. In such a case, course fees already paid will be refunded in full. If the course is cancelled or interrupted due to official regulations or recommendations, the payment obligation ends immediately.
YOUR TEACHER
KRISTIAN HANNIKAINEN
Kristian Hannikainen´s father is Finnish and his mother is Italian. He spent most of his life abroad and after growing up in such diverse places as Brazil, Italy and Mexico, he finished school and got 3 A-levels in the UK. After completing his military service in Finland he left for Mexico in 1992 to study Latin American Literature at Iberoamericana University and spent the next 23 years teaching English, Spanish and Italian. He returned to Finland in 2015 where he has been a freelance language teacher.
Kristian Hannikainen's father is Finnish and his mother is Italian. He has spent a large part of his life abroad, for example in Brazil, Italy and England, where he went to school. After returning to Finland to complete his military service, he left for Mexico, where he studied Latin American literature at Iberoamericana University. After that he taught English, Spanish and Italian there for 23 years. He returned to Finland in 2015, where he has taught languages at the adult education colleges of Sastamala, Huittinen and the Pyhäjärvi region and at West Finland College.
