TOIMINTATAVAT JA OHJEITA OPISKELIJALLE

A welcoming study environment for all of us.

Attendance

The teaching programme set out in the timetable requires active attendance.

General tidiness

Students must keep their own room and the shared spaces (kitchen, lounge, yard) clean and pleasant and take their rubbish to the waste container. The college's cleaner looks after the cleanliness of the common areas and teaching spaces in the main building and of the common areas and sanitary facilities in the dormitories. Staff monitor that these instructions are followed.

When students leave for holidays and when their studies end the condition of the rooms is inspected. If a room has been left uncleaned, we charge the occupant a cleaning fee of 100 €. The college also has a limited amount of cleaning equipment available for students to use.

Accommodation facilities

West Finland College offers students the option of accommodation in single or twin rooms.
See the room prices and options here.
Students may have to give up their rooms at weekends for short-course participants. Rooms must be emptied for the Christmas holidays. Belongings can be left in the college's storage facilities.

Overnight guests

Guests may stay in the dormitory with the permission of West Finland College. Overnight guests must be reported to the office in advance. The visitor fee is 20 €/day (linen not included). A visitor's meals are paid for separately to the kitchen. Everyone living in the dormitory is primarily responsible for ensuring that their guests follow the dormitory rules. Unknown persons must not be let into the dormitory.

Locking doors and lights

Residents are given a key that fits both the dormitory's front door and the door of their own room. The dormitory's front door is open on weekdays from 7.00 to 22.00 and closed at all other times. Doors must not be left open.
Every student is responsible for their own personal property. The college charges a fee of 35 € for a lost key.
PLEASE NOTE! The maintenance service's charge for opening a door is 15 €.

The key must not be given to another person.

The lights in the shared spaces must be switched off for the night at 23.00.

Everyone is responsible for switching off the lights and locking the doors as they move around.

A peaceful working environment and general rules of conduct

Peace and quiet for studying must be respected in the dormitories.
When listening to music, you must take other people's need to study in peace into account.

Quiet hours in the dormitory are from 23.00 – 7.00.
During quiet hours, making noise and moving about unnecessarily in the dormitory area are forbidden.

Appearing intoxicated, as well as any other inappropriate behaviour, is forbidden.

The possession and use of alcohol and tobacco on the campus area is forbidden for persons under the age of 18. Other narcotics are prohibited under Finnish law.

The general rules of good manners apply to those aged 18 and over as well. Smoking anywhere other than in the places specifically designated for it is strictly forbidden.

If a student causes a fire alarm through their behaviour or carelessness, the student has to cover the costs themselves (1340 €).
