COURSE FEES AND CANCELLATION TERMS

Course fees for long programmes
In addition to tuition, the study prices include a tasty breakfast and lunch in the college dining hall on every study day. On registration, the student is charged a booking fee (100 €), which is later deducted from the first instalment of the study fee. If the student cancels their study place after paying the booking fee, the booking fee is not refunded.
The studies are full-time and entitle you to Kela student financial aid, which can cover a large part of the course fees.
English 50+
The price of the course is 480 € / instalment and 360€ /instalment for distance learners. There are 3 (three) instalments in total and they are charged every four weeks. The price includes tuition, breakfast and lunch on study days. Entitles the student to Kela student financial aid.
Partner dance
The price of the course is 600 € / instalment. There are 3 (three) instalments in total and they are charged every four weeks. The price includes tuition, breakfast and lunch on study days. Entitles the student to Kela student financial aid.
Accommodation prices for students on long courses
The price of accommodation depends on the number of people staying in the room and on the room's facilities.
There are four different dormitory buildings on the college campus: Loima, Paideia, Toivola and Päivänpaiste.
You can stay in your own room or share a room with another student.

Student financial aid
On long programmes, study is full-time and entitles you to student financial aid. Student financial aid consists of a study grant, a housing supplement and a state-guaranteed student loan. The amount of the aid varies according to the educational institution, your age and your form of housing. Your own income and, in some cases, your parents' income also affect the aid. Students living in the college dormitory may be able to receive the housing supplement. You can find more information about student financial aid at kela.fi. Adult students have the option of applying for adult study support. You can get more information from the Education Fund or the employment offices.
The course fees do not include Open University fees.
Study voucher grant for students on long programmes
In recent years, the Finnish National Agency for Education has granted West Finland College study voucher funding. The grant may be awarded to a student who meets the college's criteria, and the decision on the grant is always made individually.
The target groups are:
unemployed jobseekers
people with a low level of basic education who have no education beyond comprehensive school
immigrants
students with learning difficulties
young people under 20 who have completed comprehensive school and have no further study place.
Cancellation terms
If you have to cancel your participation, please notify us of the cancellation immediately by email at opisto@lsopisto.fi.
Cancellation terms for long courses
If you cancel your registration/application no later than 30 days before the course starts, we will retain only the booking fee you have already paid (100 €).
For cancellations made after that, we will also charge two weeks' tuition fee. If you have to interrupt studies you have already begun, your payment obligation ends four weeks after your last day of study. Please note that failing to pay the booking fee or another tuition fee, or simply not turning up, does not count as a cancellation.
In cases of illness, by sending us your medical certificate to opisto@lsopisto.fi, your payment obligation ends immediately after your last day of study. If your sick leave begins before the course starts, we will also refund the booking fee you have paid. In cases of quarantine, the same terms apply as in cases of illness.

West Finland College has the right to cancel a planned course if not enough participants register for it. In such a case, the course fees already paid (including the booking fee) will be refunded in full. If a course is interrupted due to official regulations or recommendations, the payment obligation ends immediately after the last day of study that took place. If a course has to be cancelled due to official regulations or recommendations before it starts, the booking fee you have paid will be refunded.
Cancellation terms for short courses
A short course can be cancelled free of charge no later than 14 days before the course starts. For cancellations made after that, we will charge 50% of the course fee. For cancellations made less than 2 days before the course starts, we will charge the full course fee. Please note that failing to pay for the course or simply not turning up does not count as a cancellation.
