LIISA KONTTURI-PAASIKKO

Liisa Kontturi (dance teacher, UAS Master's degree), the lead teacher of the partner dance programme, is a seasoned professional in dance teaching who has worked in the field of partner dance for over 40 years as a dance teacher, a trainer of dance teachers and a dance school entrepreneur. 

Liisa, who has won numerous awards in her field, also examines dance teacher qualifications for both the Finnish Dance Teachers' Association (Suomen Tanssinopettajain liitto ry) and the International Dance Teachers Association. She has helped to build professional dance education in Finland, working as the teacher in charge of the partner dance specialisation at Oulu University of Applied Sciences until 2016. Liisa is an entrepreneur at the Tanssikoulu TanssinTahti dance school, develops online dance teaching in the TanssiOnline service and travels actively around the partner dance scene doing teaching and training work. She has been involved in creating the Latinobic/Tanssiksi dance fitness concept and the KiddieJam pedagogical concept for children's dance.

At West Finland College, Liisa has been the lead teacher of the partner dance programme since autumn 2018, teaching ballroom and Latin dances, social dances, pedagogy and dance theory herself.
Liisa's teaching philosophy is based on the principles of core-centred learning, and she aims for students to learn to understand things, to find cause-and-effect relationships and to be able to build their own learning themselves.
